How to block a YouTube channel for your kid.

Updated

On YouTube Kids or a supervised YouTube account, sign in as the parent, open a video from the channel, and choose Block from the menu. That only works on YouTube and only on supervised accounts. To block one creator across YouTube, TikTok, Instagram and more, use an app like Socialeyes.

Blocking a channel on YouTube Kids or a supervised account

YouTube lets parents block channels on YouTube Kids and on supervised accounts for preteens managed through Google Family Link. From a video by that channel, open the three-dot menu, choose Block, and confirm with your parent account. You can also pick a content level (such as Explore, Explore more or Most of YouTube) that limits what they see in general.

Where that stops

Blocking a creator everywhere with Socialeyes

Socialeyes shows you the creators your kid watches on YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, X, Facebook, Reddit and Pinterest. Search any creator or word and block it everywhere, or switch off whole topics like politics, sexual content or violence. Turn on risky-video blocking and flagged videos get covered on your kid's screen. Everything else in the app keeps working.

Common questions

Can I block a YouTube channel without blocking all of YouTube?

Yes, on YouTube Kids and supervised accounts you can block individual channels. Socialeyes also blocks single creators and keeps the rest of YouTube working, and the block applies on the other platforms it covers too.

Does blocking a channel on YouTube block it on TikTok?

No. Each platform's controls only work inside that app. Socialeyes blocks a creator across TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, X, Facebook, Reddit and Pinterest.

Platform features change often. This guide describes each app's own controls as published at the time of writing; check the app's help pages for the latest.
