How to see what your kid watches on TikTok.
Updated
TikTok's own Family Pairing lets you set screen time, turn on Restricted Mode and filter keywords, but it doesn't show you the videos your teen watched. You can look at their watch history on their phone, or use a parental control app like Socialeyes that shows every video and creator in their feed, sorted by category.
What TikTok Family Pairing does
Family Pairing links your TikTok account to your teen's. From your phone you can:
- Set a daily screen time limit
- Turn on Restricted Mode to limit content TikTok rates as mature
- Add keywords to filter videos out of their For You and Following feeds
- Control who can message them, comment on their videos and find their account
To set it up, open TikTok on your phone, go to Settings and privacy, then Family Pairing, and scan the code on your teen's phone.
What it doesn't show you
Family Pairing is a set of switches, not a window. It doesn't list the videos your teen watched, which creators they keep coming back to, or what kind of content TikTok's algorithm is feeding them. Keyword filters only catch videos whose captions or hashtags use the words you thought to add.
Checking watch history by hand
TikTok keeps a watch history on the teen's own account, under Settings and privacy, then Activity center, then Watch history. You'd need their phone, it can be cleared, and scrolling hundreds of videos doesn't tell you much about the overall mix.
Seeing the whole feed with Socialeyes
Socialeyes shows you every video your kid watches on TikTok, and on Instagram, YouTube, X, Facebook, Reddit and Pinterest, sorted into categories like comedy, music, education and politics. You can see how much political content shows up and which way it leans, then block a single creator, a topic or a word without banning the app.
Common questions
Can parents see their child's TikTok watch history?
Not through Family Pairing. Watch history is kept on the teen's own account under Settings and privacy, Activity center, Watch history, so you'd need their phone to look. Socialeyes shows parents every video and creator in the feed from their own phone.
Can I block a specific TikTok creator for my kid?
Your teen can block accounts themselves, but Family Pairing doesn't let a parent block one creator for them. With Socialeyes you search the creator and block them everywhere, and the rest of TikTok keeps working.
